Responsibilities
- Develop 5-year strategic roadmaps for next-gen technologies (quantum, biotech, AI)
- Lead cross-functional teams in prototyping breakthrough solutions
- Secure $10M+ in government/private innovation grants
- Author industry-defining white papers on 2026 tech trends
- Partner with Stanford/MIT on future-focused research initiatives
- Build patent portfolios with 15+ annual filings
- Mentor junior scientists in speculative technology design
Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Physics, or Bioengineering (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years in emerging tech R&D with 3+ publications in Nature/Science
- Proven track record securing $5M+ in research funding
- Expertise in at least two of: quantum algorithms, synthetic biology, AGI safety
- Proficiency in futures forecasting methodologies (Delphi, horizon scanning)
- Strong network with DARPA, NSF, or similar innovation bodies
- Portfolio of 3+ commercialized breakthrough technologies
